Bio
Vivian Pastor
is a Houston-based ceramic artist with a rich Mexican-American heritage.
Her work draws deeply from nature, exploring the cycles of life and death alongside the fragile beauty of memory. Using only her hands, she transforms raw clay into evocative creations through coil or slab building techniques.
Each piece she molds reflects a profound connection to her cultural roots. Vivian’s artistry is inspired by her father, Joseph Vasquez, a humble tortilla maker whose craft she witnessed and assisted as a child, kneading dough to help make ends meet. Her whimsical aesthetic also finds its roots in the fleeting moments she spent with her mother, who found joy in the garden.
Vivian’s journey—from kneading dough to molding clay—celebrates her heritage and the transformative power of creation. Every sculpture is a testament to her gratitude for turning humble beginnings into enduring works of art.
